Tomorrow is my birthday. And this year it falls on Thanksgiving. What could you be more thankful for, than me?! #egoTrip
Being a human, (animal body with a rational soul if you want to use philosophical terminology…some people might get hung up on the word “animal body” so let me explain real quick that it means it’s physical…unlike angels who are pure spirit…as well as sensational…higher than vegetation which doesn’t feel pain), I therefore continuously think during waking moments. I know philosophy sounds weird to many people but those aren’t even my weird thoughts for today’s blog. Here are my pre-birthday thoughts this year:
Person X (no one in particular): “Mike, what’s your favorite birthday present you received this year?”
Me: “The gift of life. I’m grateful for being alive today. Nope, can’t say that. That sounds like I have cancer. Plus, it doesn’t even make sense in the greater scheme of things because in another sense, we’re even more alive in heaven. A cemetery can be a place to grieve the loss of a loved one but it can also be an ocassion to be happy for that person if we reasonably believe they lived virtuously enough with the love of Christ or at least having had a true conversion at the end. Heaven is the “bang for your buck” of loving Christ and therefore loving others because that’s what Jesus commanded us to do. Compare that Appreciation (Jesus’ heavenly promises being a hundredfold) with the DEpreciation of material things. You buy that new hot rod and when you drive to your first traffic light, it starts depreciating. Man, this argument has a hole because houses generally go up if you give it enough time. Buy while the sales last! Just kidding. Rather, keep vigil because our hour could be in a few seconds.
By the way, these were my inner thoughts. Even if someone actually asked me this, I would still keep these thoughts inside. Don’t be weird. But you can and should be a fool for Christ. Which turns out to be actually wise #paradox.
Inner thoughts within an inner daydream. Like a present within a present. Or a play within a play.
Going old school, weird as anything, and deep in birthday thoughts,
